Draft manuscriptWhat We TolerateJustinas Builds

What We Tolerate is where I’m sharing my journey. I grew up seeing animals killed for food. At the time it seemed normal. Later I started asking questions.

I’m still learning each day. I hope this book is useful to someone, and I hope my children won’t need to have this same fight.

From what felt normal to what I want to change.

STATUS: BOOK IN PROGRESS. No release date announced.

A passage from my notes

Draft passage from the book in progress.

I don't exactly remember what happened, or which moment was crucial. I just remember coming home one day and telling my mother I wasn't going to eat animals. No eggs either. Just milk and milk products.

Her answer was that I would have to cook for myself, because she wasn't going to do it. This was the food we had. You ate it, or you started making your own.

I didn't have too much trouble. Thanks to my grandmother, I had learned to cook from very young. I could manage.

I understand now that what we had in that house was just enough. Enough to bring food home for everyone in the family.
